You’ll develop strong foundations in both traditional and modern barbering, including:

• Sectioning patterns
• Classic and contemporary cutting
• Scissor-over-comb and clipper-over-comb techniques
• Clipper work and detailing
• Beard and moustache trimming
• Straight razor shaving
  Finishing and styling
  
  

You’ll also build the skills that make a great barber:

• Client care and consultation
• Shampoo and basin services
• Scheduling and time management
• Employability skills
• Developing and retaining a client base

Working in a barbershop while you train means you’re learning in a real workplace from day one. You’ll build confidence and speed while gaining a clear understanding of what it takes to work as part of a professional team.

At BIBA Academy, your off-the-job training strengthens that foundation. You’ll refine your technique in a practical learning setting, guided by experienced educators who understand what employers expect.

By the time you complete your apprenticeship, you won’t just have a nationally recognised qualification. You’ll be ready to step confidently into the industry, with real experience behind you and the skills to work at a professional level.

Apprentices attend BIBA Academy for off-the-job training throughout their apprenticeship.

Employers can choose between:

• Weekly training days at BIBA
• Block training (one week in every five weeks)
  

Apprenticeships typically run over three years, with BIBA training delivered across approximately two years of that contract.

All apprenticeship training is conducted at BIBA Academy’s Johnston Street campus in Fitzroy, unless otherwise arranged.
