BIBA Hair Academy is the best hairdressing school for Melbourne’s newbies. With us, you can choose to do your Certificate III in Hairdressing or your Certificate III in Barbering as a full-time student, or you can come to us as an apprentice who is attached to any hairdressing salon in the country.
Everyone has different circumstances, and we do cater for those who want to complete their high-quality course quickly by doing all their schooling as a full-timer (and that doesn’t have to be five days a week). On the other hand, you may be an apprentice and come to BIBA Academy every Wednesday, and work for your salon employer every other day. Maybe you’re a hairdressing apprentice in country Victoria – if that’s the case, you might come to the Academy for a 5-day block every 5 weeks. This 5-day blog training offering is also available to local Melbourne and Regional students.
Have a chat to Alex in our BIBA Student Admin office – she’s got a list of possibilities
and it’s her mission to find the hairdresser training solution that works for you!
The benefits of being a training apprentice hairdresser are obviously underpinned by being able to earn a wage and learn new skills of the trade at the same time. With BIBA, you get to hang out with some very cool people, make new friends across the industry, and boost your skills by working alongside our amazing, award-winning educators. You can set the pace and come in as often as you want, and then take back your new learning and tick off your practical tasks at your salon.
Because of our online Student Results System (SRS) and the way it integrates with Google Classroom, you and your salon boss can also login, see what you need to do between classes, and track your progress at any time. The salon owner can also have access to the SRS so that they can support your training and see when you’ve attended, and so much more.
You’ll be inspired by our flexible training options, whilst you’re hired in an actual job situation.
And…BIBA Academy is always available at the other end of the phone to answer any questions.
BIBA has two locations – Fitzroy and Melbourne CBD – and they both function just like a salon. Sure, there will be a few lessons using mannequin heads, but, as a fully operational ‘real client’ salon, we’ll have you training on people who can actually talk to you, rather than trying to chat to a polystyrene Pete or a plastic Penelope. Obviously, this means you’ll also be honing your customer services skills, too.
By completing your training as a Hairdresser Apprentice, it will take longer to qualify than if you join us for a full-time hairdressing course, but the unique flexibility of BIBA could allow you to choose fast-track options – for example, you might take work holidays from the salon and come to school for a 5-day program to speed up your learning, skill attainment and assessment progress.
FULL-TIME HAIRDRESSING SCHOOL
Obviously, if you’re in a position to join us four or five days a week, at BIBA Academy, you will become a qualified hairdresser or barber much quicker. You won’t be earning a hairdressing apprentice wage – but you could still find employment as a hairdressing salon assistant on weekends or focus on another job role of your choice. That’s completely up to you.
If you talk to any one of our full-time graduates, they will tell you how relatable our hair school lessons are too – BIBA Academy operates as a proper salon with talking head clients, there are dynamic educators all around you, the buzz of excitement and learning is really palpable, and your course can still be structured around your outside work schedule and commitments (to an extent).
You can work through the Certificate III courses within a year (if you truly commit), or span it out over a longer period of time. It’s quite flexible. We can tailor your course progression to suit you, and if there is some reason you have to reduce your days, or take a break, it just means that you will graduate a bit later than you had originally intended.
Whichever way you travel, we’re here to help you choose and organise the best option for your circumstances. We’ll guide you and provide you with the most up-to-date information about Government funding for fees and payment plans and, above all, we’ll welcome you into our BIBA Academy clan. We’re a family-owned business and we’re dedicated to delivering personalised training and support to every one of our students.
